The Chinese government wants Chinese people to stop wasting food.

The name of the campaign is "say no to food waste.” Restaurants and tourist places will be controlled.

The China Consumers Association (CCA) has also called on the Chinese people not to waste food while eating out at restaurants. Some places have come up with new ways to help people have healthy eating habits.

Last week, Chinese President Xi Jinping called on the country to think of this as an emergency. He said the amount of food waste in the country is "shocking and distressing."

The country will pull the brakes on too much eating, Mukbang shows have come under the spotlight.

Mukbangs are online shows originally from South Korea. They show people eating large amounts of food in front of the camera. But this has come under fire for wasting food. They say it is making binge eating seem normal.

But some are calling for limits to the campaign. They ask if uneaten food at restaurants is really such a crime.
